Today, we had the privilege of conversing with Rajiv H. Tamil, the grandson of Shri Balaji Vasantrao Tamil, the skilled artisan who crafted the iconic Sai Baba Murti back in 1954. Rajiv Harish Tamil graciously shared intricate insights into the life and work of his grandfather, Shri Balaji Vasant Tamil.

During our engaging conversation, Rajiv recounted how Shri Balaji Vasant Tamil pursued a formal education in sculpture at JJ Institute of Arts in Mumbai and established the Talim Art Studio in 1918. He went on to reveal the remarkable story of how Shri Balaji Tamil came to be approached by the members of Sai Baba Sansthan in Shirdi to undertake the momentous task of fashioning the Sai Baba Idol.

Rajiv elaborated on the challenges his grandfather encountered during the creative process and recounted three incredible miracles that occurred during the idol's fabrication. He also shed light on the intriguing decision to use Carrara Marble from Italy, which had been languishing at the Mumbai Port since 1952, for this extraordinary masterpiece.
