Our guest Naresh Dhawan, who is general secretary of Delhi State Powerlifting Association, and has been felicitated with many awards including the Rajeev Gandhi State Sports Awards, gives us a brief rundown of the powerlifting championship for men and women that will be held for the first time in Dwarka.
A renowned name in powerlifting in India and world, Dhawan holds many records and heads many organisation. He clarifies the difference between weightlifting and powerlifting and recounts his eventful journey over the years.
He says, "The championships for senior (23 years and above) men and women are being held at MRV School, Sector 13, Dwarka, on July 8 and 9. Women and Men will compete in different categories."
The winners will represent in the national championship to be held in Kerala from August 14 to 19, 2017.
