Khel Aur Khiladi: Rajat Bihani: All for the love of gameYou need a browser with JavaScript!
In this episode, Radio Dwarka met budding cricketer Rajat Bihani, who has played for Delhi's Under 16, and Rajasthan's Under 19 and 23.
An early starter, Bihani was dejected and demotivated at not being selected for Under 13 cricket team for Delhi. It was a life-changing failure that made him take up cricket professionally.
"My mother is my pillar of strength. She's the first person whom I call if I make it to the Team." But other members of his family also support his love for the game, he added.
He is pursuing an undergraduate degree in commerce from the Dyal Singh College, Delhi University. "I never took any efforts to balance my studies and cricket. I study and play a game of cricket with the same passion. I scored 85% in Class 12 and 70% in the first year of college. That's quite a feat, and I thank God for it."
Playing at the club and state levels are different ball games. "The atmosphere is quite competitive at the state level. All the players are good, but they are also your rivals. The thought of proving yourself happens to weigh you down at times."
He calls his coach at Sehwag International Cricket Academy a blessing and owes a lot to him.
A vegetarian, he is not much of a foodie. "But I love pizza."
On the field, only the game matters. "Nothing else bothers me. My world revolves around 22 yards."
"I love watching movies, reading books and listening to music. Shraddha Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan are my favourite actors."
His advice for budding cricketers — just love the game.
