In this episode, judo champion Deepak Deswal tells us more about his eventful journey.
He started off on a winning note by grabbing medals even when he was not serious about taking it up. That was when Deswal was in Class 5. "I had weight issues, but I got serious about judo after winning my first medal, gold," he says.
In a cricket-loving nation, his father was keen and appreciative of his choice and supported. "My coach has played a significant role in my success," he says.
Thanks to his coach's efforts, his academy's students won the maximum medal in the country.
Deswal has travelled across the world while representing the country. He was in China and did the nation proud by winning a medal; another medal winner was also from the same Academy.
A Class 11 student, he doesn't pay attention to anything beyond judo, focussing all his time and energy in bettering performance.
