What is important is to dare to dream, but even more important is dare to put action behind your dreams. Unlimited opportunities awaits the person who dare to seek. And 60 year old Sharat Sharma always had this quest to see the world, explore new horizons and get more out of life. So as soon as he retired as Editor, from Times of India, he started planning to realize his long cherished dream of exploring India on motorbike. On 18th March he embarked on a motorcycle road trip that would bewilder even a hardcore young biker. His solo trip was flagged off from Sri Ganesh Apartments, Sector-7 at 10.30 am. Sharat Sharma will be covering 27,000 kilometers on a bike, criss-crossing the National Highways and the dusty by-lanes of 29 states, Union Territories and the neighbouring country Bhutan. He plans to cover this in 180 days. He wishes to connect with the ground reality and oneness of India. According to Mr Sharma, there are two messages which he would like to deliver through this trip. The first message is that age is just a number and being young is a state of mind and staying healthy and fit is the mantra to enjoy life’s journey. His second message is for bikers. He says, “Motor bikes are for all age groups and you must ride them with discipline. Since there has been a sharp increase in the number of accidents and fatalities involving motor bikers, I wish to propagate the joy of riding responsibly.” Sharat Sharma is sure to come back with lot of memories and experiences. He also plans to chronicle the journey with captioned pictures and his lived in experience in a book form after the completion of the trip.
