In the tenth episode, Radio Dwarka caught up with eminent litterateur and journalist Ashok Lav. Born in Delhi, but originally from Kaithal in Haryana, he spent his early years here in the Haryana and Bihar. He completed his schooling and college from Delhi and started teaching Hindi at Air Force School, one of the three public schools in the Capital at that point of time.
He contributed his first article for a newspaper when he was in Class 10, way back in 1964. He was fond of writing, so his passion for journalism continued along with teaching that he did for 30 years. He wanted to break the stereotype around a journalist who was perceived to be poor and impoverished, and trying to make ends meet.
He shared beautiful anecdotes where he had helped shaped young minds, guiding them to stay on track and helping them become successful in their lives later on.
After retiring from active life, he has devoted himself to writing full time and working for social causes through his associations with many organizations here in Dwarka. To do his bit for the society, he says that one should have ample devotion for the cause and also willingness to make a change at the grassroots level.
Superfluity comes sooner by white hairs, but competency lives longer.....
