In the last episode of the programme, Kirti Arya tells Radio Dwarka about her cricketing journey.
As a kid, Arya always wanted to play cricket, but took it up seriously only in Class 9 and played her first state-level match at the age of 16 when she was in Class 11.
"It was all about gully cricket as a child. I had this burning desire to play with Sachin Tendulkar one day. At that point of time, I never knew that there's something called women's cricket. But yes, I was sure that I wanted to play cricket," she said.
She was trained by Sanjay Dobal, who initiated her into cricket, and prepared her to represent the state. The family has always been supportive of her choice, but "dad has been the biggest pillar of support."
"I played my first state-level match as an off-spinner, and it was a great learning experience. I was chosen to be part of the Team as a replacement for a senior player. My first wicket was a clean bowl, a runout. This feat upped my confidence level," she said.
Arya has also played in the Under 19, Under 23 and zonal matches. "The maturity of players differ in these levels of cricket matches."
She stood fourth in Class 12 and so far, has never neglected studies to focus on cricket. And not just cricket, Arya has also participated in swimming competitions at the state level.
